Food Review - Gourmet Burger Kitchen

Image
I was invited to review the food at Gourmet Burger Kitchen this month. I chose the DIFC branch due to its convenient location. On my way there on a sunny afternoon I had an idea of what to expect but lets just say my expectations were not only fulfilled but left far behind in terms of flavours, choices and the friendly service. With so many amazing options I was spoilt for choice, but Christine, who manages the DIFC branch helped me make up my mind by walking me through the entire menu and how you can customise any particular burger. I settled on the Hot Chiili Chicken burger (If you are trying to avoid carbs they can serve the burger without the bun), with a side of  sweet potato fries (even though customer favourite were the skinny fries) along with a custom made Chocolate Oreo Milkshake. For dessert I went for the Chocolate fondant. To know what I loved or hated read on! First up was the milkshake, which was brought freshly made to the table and poured into the glass ri

Product Reviews - Facial Cleansers/Face wash

Image
This week I'm doing a review of facial cleansers/ face wash easily available at most supermarkets. I'll add more and more as I try them out so make sure you keep coming back. Dove Beauty Moisture Conditioning Facial Cleanser I have actually started to love this product. It's just soo creamy and forms an amazing lather. This one is recommended for normal to dry skin. For people with oily skin this might not do a good job because it's a conditioning face wash. In short its adds moisture to the skin making it a good choice for people dry skin. Himalaya Purifying Neem Face Wash  This is recommended for people with acne prone skin. If you are looking for a bit more natural/ayurvedic option then this is a good bet. If you have oily skin this is a good option since it is water based. I find such washes refreshing in the summers, when our skin tends to be on the oily side, especially if you stay in humid cities. Olay Natural White Face Wash

Product Review - Nonions

Image
ANGT, a UAE based pioneer food manufacturer, has recently made accessible its varied range of 100% natural and preservative free food products to the common household in the UAE. Manufacturer’s star brand - NONIONS is the world’s first ever pre-cooked, ready-to-use onion paste.  In short this product is supposed to save the tears and reduce time while cooking by providing fresh ready to use onions. So the best way to get you a review about Nonions was to get three awesome cooks in my family to try them out.  Nonions Boiled Onion Paste : The first was the boiled onion paste, which was used to make Punjabi Chole  (Indian chick pea dish) which has a smooth Smooth yet chunky gravy from the bits of tomatoes in it. The verdict: "Using the paste was definitely a hassle free experience. The paste had a slight preservative smell but that disappeared after sautĆ©ing it enough. Finally the taste turned to be exactly like it would with regular onions which is the most importa

Food Review - Rosa Mexicano

Image
I've always been a fan of Mexican Food and Rosa Mexicano has left me wanting for more. They celebrated the fifth of May more commonly know as  Cinco de Mayo  at their restaurant in the Dubai Mall.  The celebration was complete with a Mariachi band, sombreros and of-course Mexican food. I choose to taste the traditional Guacamole en Molcajete made fresh in a stone pastel right in front of me (see the video below). I loved the guacamole, which is a dish made of tomatoes, onions, herbs and served with tomato salsa and nachos in this instance (a little tip, their medium spicy is not very spicy, so order accordingly). The guacamole was so creamy and the fresh ingredients made it even more amazing. I finished almost half of it by myself!  Guacamole with Nachos and Tomato Salsa Next I decided to go with a modern infusion, Fried Chicken but Mexican style. The chicken marinated with Mexican flavoring and served on a bed of 'secret' sauce as described by Cae Ca

Food Review - Shawurger

Image
I love food experiments because they normally combine a few awesome dishes to make something new. Some times these experiments become things that are far from edible but sometimes the ingredients just fall in place to create a delectable balance of flavours. I tasted such an experiment last week at JF (formerly known as Just falafel) Street food called the Shawurger.  Ghef Gerard Sweet Potato Fries As the name suggests it a combination of a shawarma and a burger. Now this particular creation is more than just chicken shawarma pieces filled between a burger bun. According to Chef Gerard of JF Street Food, the bun used for the Shawurger is made using a of potatoes and is imported from the USA since nobody in the UAE could manufacturer them. Even though I try to support local products as much as possible for obvious environment reasons, I did love the taste of these buns which were soo soft. Tender chicken combined with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, pickels, French fries and drizz

Food Review - Circle CafƩ

Image
Circle CafĆ© has proudly joined the re-invention club and launched a new menu recently and I'm going to give you a low down on how well they scored. Tucked away into the quite Business Bay square in downtown Dubai, Circle CafĆ© is a cosy hidden gem. The simple and elegant interiors give a very relaxed home feel which makes the food more enjoyable. Let's get down to business then..First up were the Bagel chips. As the name suggests they were thinly sliced baked Bagel chips served with a Tarama Truffle dip. From the first bite I knew this dish was going to be in my top three for the night. They were so crisp and light that I couldn't stop munching. The zatar type seasoning gave it the perfect amount of subtle flavour. For those with a preference for stronger taste, the dipping sauce gives it a unexpected punch which grows on you with every bite. Next was the Whole Wheat Salmon Pasta followed by the Circle Greek Salad, both of which are healthy options but low on the seas
