How to: Combat Sagging Skin
Dr Lillian Khan recently informed us at Komal's Korner about the reasons for Sagging Skin and how you can combat it, read on to know the why and how of it.
Aging is a natural process that every woman would like to go through
gracefully. One of the major signs of aging is sagging skin, especially in the
jaw and neck is which we call the Y- contour. This is why there is so much
focus in the aesthetic world to try to find solutions that help maintain the
youthfulness of the face.
We develop sagging due to several reasons such as loss of collagen and
elasticity, which cause loss of firmness and smooth texture of the skin. The
loss of fat pads of the face that gives its fullness, and loss of bone and
muscle mass are some of the other reasons of sagging. All these changes cause
the skin to sag and this appears more obvious in the lower part of the face due
to the effect of time and gravity. Luckily, there are several options to take
care of the skin and delay this aging effect.
There are several clinical procedures and different technologies
that focus on the Y-contour and help maintain the youthfulness in the face. Chemical
peels, vampire face lift, and fillers are a few examples of these types of
procedures. However, all these procedures have possible side effects, are quite
expensive and sometimes even give disappointing results.
To avoid these, taking care of skin at home from the beginning
becomes the first line of defense. Choosing the right products that help boost
the skin with firming components is recommended. There are several products in
the market which use the usual active ingredients that help lift and firm the
skin such as retinol, retinol boosters, vitamin C, antioxidants, and collagen.
There are certain new ingredients that have
shown increased improvement for the Y-contour such Polyimide and Lipodipeptide.
These ingredients can be found in the components of products like Pond’s Age Miracle™ Firm & Lift skin care range which has an active compound called InstantLift™.
