Food Review - Hashtag Lounge Mumbai

Komal's Korner was invited to review Hashtag lounge, located in the western suburbs of Mumbai. When ever I go for a review I'm not only excited to taste some scintillating dishes but also explore a new place and get inspired by the décor.

So when we reached Hashtag, to our surprise the place did not have any signboards and the entry to the roof top lounge atop a dilapidated hotel was through a chained gate. The minute I started doing a little limbo to go under the chain I felt like I was about to commit a crime!

On asking the restaurant staff we found out they had parking issues with the hotel below. On one had I can understand their plight but as a customer I would have turned back, but I did not. The moment I stepped out of the lift on the sixth floor I felt like I had stepped into the neighbor hood 'kinara' shop, since the pathway to the restaurant was covered with sacks of food and ration on both sides.

After this interesting journey we took our seats in the open air section. White washed walls, along with a few lamp posts, birdcages and two chalet style seating give the place a fresh and young look. Perfect to attract the teenagers as the adults. We were there in the afternoon and place had a number of college students busy taking selfies and enjoying happy hour hookah prices. The place does boast of a big hookah menu. I don't like hookah, but if you are a fan you might be enjoy their selection.

Coming to the food and drinks, I liked their cocktails. We had the naughty fruity, a mojito and a magic shake, out of which the mojito was average and the other two were good.

For food we had the peri peri fries, they were crunchy and had the right amount of spice and were presented well. Next came the margarita pizza. As you know I try this in almost every place I go, and these guys committed a crime I cannot forgive them for. They served a margarita with onion and tomatoes in it! If you are thinking to yourself so what? You shouldn't be reading my blog. Because this is not what a margarita pizza is supposed to be like. We asked for a bruschetta which did not even make it to the table. We ended our meal with a garlic bread. Which had a lot of cheese, which was its plus point.

Over all the place has potential due to its location, set up and vibrant décor but the staff is not very courteous and the attention to cleanliness and ambience of the indoor section of the restaurant is low. My final assessment- Visit at your own risk and be patient. It could have a lot to offer if they smoothen the rough edges.

Hashtag lounge is pure vegetarian lounge located in Malad West, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
